How easy it is to rush through our days without noticing the beauty and the blessings that abound. I’m thankful for Friday’s Fave Five, encouraging me to slow down at the end of the week and count five things that made my life better.
Watching this little guy grow, albeit from afar! Miranda keeps me updated with photos, and no matter what I’m doing or where I am, when I see one come through, my heart melts and I’m so thankful for how blessed we all are.
Finished projects! At last - The landscaping that had to be redone for the sewer line, the pergola that we installed on the back patio, and the irrigation lines for the perennial garden are all in place. Dan did the lion’s share of the first two projects. I am just a little proud that I figured out how to set up the irrigation for the perennials. 😌 I’m thankful to have a plot of land to call our own.
On Wednesday mornings, Dan plays in a softball league. This week Emily and I went to watch his game. It was a lovely day, we hung out with another family who we adore, and afterward went to lunch. I’m thankful to have this time to spend with my daughter. ❤
📚Summer reading - The afternoons have been so hot and we are in for another week of it. I’ve been intentional about taking some time for reading in the afternoon. Admittedly, I usually fall asleep for half an hour first! But then, I get to my book. I just finished Eve Plumb’s Happiness Included; Jan Brady and Beyond. It was a fun, light read, and a nice change from the Theodore Roosevelt biography that I’m slowly working my way through.
Looks like you got a lot done. I like to read in the evening, and it helps me fall asleep. I remember watching Centennial. I read a whole series of books in the 80's called The Wagon's West by Dana Fuller Ross. It follows a few families as they headed west in Wagons. Each book covered a State, and I learned a lot about each state. I still have the set. My grandpa read each book after I did. Maybe that is why I still have the books. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe book series sounds really interesting, I’ll have to look for it. I love reading about western history. When I was in college, the Centennial series was being filmed very close by. I remember going out to visit the town they built for the early days. I hope you have a good weekend as well!

I love the idea of taking time each week to notice the little blessings that can easily pass by. The photo updates of your little grandson sound like such a joy; those moments really are precious. It must feel wonderful to have the landscaping projects finished too, especially knowing you helped with the irrigation. Summer reading, family time, and good memories from favorite shows all make for a lovely list of things to appreciate.

DeleteThat top photo is so sweet! Those are big projects. My husband wants to expand our deck and put in a pergola someday. Hopefully soon! I often read a little at night, but often fall asleep then, too. :)

ReplyDeleteIs that your newest grandbaby? He sure is cute! I've been reading The Calmity Club, but it is looong. I'm in the middle of it and thinking, "how much longer do I have to go?" It's one of those books that I think could be condensed without losing anything. Oh well!
